About

Reading-addict with one guilty pleasure: lesbian fiction. A few weeks ago I panicked: I went through all Karin Kallmaker books, most of the Bella Books catalogue and was afraid that I would run out of reading stuff. More supply was needed but it was really tedious work to find something new with scrolling through “people who read this also bought these books”. If there are blogs about lesbian books out there I haven’t found them yet (if you read this: hi, let’s connect!). So why not start blogging about my reading addiction myself? And try to describe and tag books with helpful categories and words?

Writing about books

The quality of writing in genre fiction differs a lot and there are certain clichés I’m not looking for at all anymore. When you have a sex scene with two women in a movie in most cases you’ll get a close-up of their intertwined hands gliding over the sheets. When you read about two women kissing or having sex for the first time you’ll get “She never felt like this before”. Even if it’s true: it’s boring! Please, find something else!  I want to read something a little more original even if I expect genre standards like a happy end to be met (in most cases. Actually, that’s up to discussion). I’m reading lesbian romance novels for fun and entertainment which means I dip into different subgenres from my usual reading preferences (“lesbian vampires?” Why not!) but I love to have depth of character, romance, fun, and more to come for sure (I’m just starting!). One of my favorite movie genres are screwball comedies because the main characters don’t fall head over heels at first sight. They fight, they are intelligent, they are witty, stubborn, sparks are flying and they have to overcome a lot to finally get each other.

La Guilty Pleasure

Yes, good guess, it’s a pseudonym! And yeah, English isn’t my mother tongue but I’m trying hard.

P.S.: well, for different reasons I changed to Kat Schroeder
